02-07-2025, several newspapers covered my press briefing in which I presented my detailed views on the Waqf Amendment Act, 2025. I raised reservations about specific provisions that, in my view, conflict with the fundamental principles enshrined in the Constitution of India. I emphasized that some clauses appear to undermine the constitutional values of equality, and the right to property, and may lead to excessive state control over religious endowments. My analysis was based on a careful reading of constitutional provisions and the spirit of justice, transparency, and minority Right.
